Gee, Thanks Kentucky Fried Chicken

Julie C. caught this assumptive KFC ad:

As Julie says: "Because, of course, only moms cook..." Thanks Julie C!

Also in women are responsible for cooking and cleaning: a commercial montage, Italian dye ad with a twist, women love to clean, homes of the future, what's for dinner, honey?, liberation through quick meals, and my husband's an ass.

I think your blog is coming off waaaaaaay to sensitive to simple gender issues and forgetting what is really going on with this ad.

First and foremost this ad is pushing the pie and cheese sticks as the selling points, the fact there is fried chicken could be anything else like pizza.

Also, the card, as if the children of the family helped mom out by buying this themselves. To imply that mom gets a night off is to assume that the consumer typically cooks at home and rarely gets a "night off". The combo of items presented also tells that the consumer buying this meal enjoys the most fried shit that KFC has to offer, no mashed potatoes, they're fries & cheese sticks.

Not only is it presumptive, but look at the way the food is presented. Whatever vegetables are in the meal are put way in the back in small servings, while fried food and desert take the foreground. Any good parent (mother or father) that I know of would shudder at the idea of a meal like that.
