Insult Comedy

This comic, Lisa Lampanelli, is a very successful comic whose entire act involves aggressively offending every possible group and congratulating herself on getting us to lighten up. The audience thinks it's great. Gwen and I saw her on Comedy Central tonight doing her own special, so this is mainstream comedy.

So how do we analyze this sociologically? Gwen and I are too demoralized to formulate a coherent response at this time. But at least we now know that it's not rape if he's good lookin'.

Good grief. I didn't last 10 seconds into that. I enjoy a comedian that can get in your face and make you think, but she's no George Carlin.

The jokes are so obvious and the stereotypes are so cliche that it wouldn't be funny even if it wasn't offensive.

Asian people bow and say things like 'goodie goodie'! Ha! It's funny because it's true!!!

It's simply horrific that people are laughing and applauding this. I made myself watch the whole thing but I kept hoping it was over.

I guess the "moms" she was talking about have a better sense of humor than I do.

A big part of her laughter comes from her dress and chubbiness. Very Edward Scissor hands. Someone like that saying something so vulgar oh my!
