This is a page out of an old school book, Maury's New Complete Geography (1906). The plate is labeled "Race Types." See the key at the bottom to which images are "caucasion," "mongolian," "malay," and "ethiopian." (You should be able to click on the image to see it larger.)

Notice how the good respectable white old anglo saxan is at the top in the middle? I have a feeling I know which "race type" made the picture...

Did anyone else notice that the Naitve Americans didn't get a "race type"?
Or that the last perosn is an "American Negro"

Interesting to me that they recognized more than one "type" of African and Native American.
Also, of course, the default person of any racial group is male.
